I am a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher (Junior Intermediate Level 1), and I developed an interest in yoga in 2005 whilst suffering from back pain and migraines. After trying many different kinds of therapy I found an Iyengar Yoga teacher in South London, and regular practice immediately began to improve my health. This inspired me to learn more and begin my yoga journey. In 2007 I travelled to India to study with Rajiv and Swati Chanchani and spent 2 years there as their student.
I completed his Introductory Teacher Training in London in 2013, and recently gained my Junior Intermediate level 1 certificate in 2018. I am currently working on gaining new knowledge and depth of understanding aligned with the Iyengar Yoga association’s new set of qualifications as set out in July 2020 and with the help of my mentor Alaric Newcombe.
My background is in Education and the Arts and I am also a trained primary school teacher, with an MA in Education and International Development. My passion for education has influenced my yoga practice and teaching a great deal and I believe that yoga is an excellent leveller. I believe that Iyengar Yoga is a great tool for personal development for people of all ages and abilities regardless of background.
My teaching style is based on clear, simple instruction and the belief that yoga can be accessed by anyone and everyone. I enjoy working hard and strive for a better understanding amongst my students.
